In this beginner/intermediate level class, you will
complete one niche' with flowering urn similar to those shown
here.
You'll start on a wall-mounted canvas painted a neutral
color as might be encountered in a client's home. You'll learn
to choose the appropriate highlight and shadow colors for this
base paint. We'll then determine the desired viewing angle for the
niche and proceed to lay it out in the proper perspective. We'll
then jump right into a wet on wet paint application to establish the
highlights and shadows of the niche.
Next we'll discuss various urn shapes and methods of
layout and transfer, and then proceed with painting the urn and
finish it off with delicate growing roses.
The beginner/intermediate level does not require that
you have any experience actually painting
murals on walls, but you do need to have a bit of
artistic ability, preferably with painting. You
should understand some of the fundemental principles
of art such as light and shadow, composition,
and basic perspective.
Use of all tools and materials is included with
the class fee as is a catered lunch. Your mural will be painted on
canvas that can be rolled up and taken with you after the class
is over.
